Master the stage: Why 2026 is the year for dental professionals to step up and speak out

There’s a shift happening in dentistry that goes beyond technology and trends. We’re entering a time when authenticity, communication, and confidence are redefining what leadership looks like in this profession. Whether you’re a hygienist, assistant, dentist, manager or DSO executive, 2026 is the year to step up and speak out.

When I began my career as a clinician, it was my dream to one day be standing on stages across the country, sharing my story and inspiring others. With a little work and a lot of intention, speaking became a natural evolution and way to extend the impact I had chairside to a much larger audience. I didn’t have a map. I just took one small step forward, and that step changed everything.

If you’re unsure where to begin, simply take a small step and start anyway. Maybe it’s sharing an idea in your next team meeting. Maybe it’s volunteering to speak at a study club, contributing to a blog, or submitting a topic for a local event.

The important thing isn’t how big your first stage is; instead, it’s that you take that first step. Each time you speak, you gain clarity, confidence, and momentum. Each time you share your story, you grow into your brand and your influence.

And remember, stages aren’t limited to conference halls. Your stage might be the operatory, the boardroom, or the leadership table. Mastering how you communicate your ideas will prepare you for growth in any direction—whether that’s leadership, management, or entrepreneurship.

Authenticity is still the key. Audiences and teams crave speakers who are real. The most powerful voices in dentistry today are the ones who blend expertise with humanity. They speak from experience, not perfection.

As both a clinician and brand strategist, I can tell you this: staying true to your personal brand (your values, your story, and your “why”) is the foundation of long-term influence. You don’t need to mimic anyone else’s style. You simply need to refine your own voice and show up consistently and with intention as you.

When you align your speaking presence with your authentic brand, your confidence grows…and so do your opportunities.

Let this be your call to action. Your moment is now! Dentistry is in desperate need of more speakers, educators, storytellers, and innovators who are ready to shape the future of our profession.

If you’ve ever felt the nudge to share your story, this is your sign. Begin now. Take the step.

Your story has power. Your presence has purpose. And 2026? That’s your stage.
